About Timothy R. Heath

Dr. Timothy R. Heath has over twenty five years of experience as a China specialist. He served for 15 years in the U.S. government as a China analyst and 10 years as a senior international defense researcher at RAND Corporation. Timothy also served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army (combat engineer).

Timothy has authored two books, China's New Governing Party Paradigm: Political Renewal and the Pursuit of National Rejuvenation (Routledge, 2014) and The Autocrat's Predicament: The Political Peril of Economic Upgrade in Single-Party Authoritarian Regimes (Lexington, 2023). Timothy earned his PhD in Political Science from George Mason University, his MA in Asian Studies from George Washington University, and his BA in Philosophy from the College of William and Mary. Timothy lives in Alexandria, VA, with his family.
